Smart Tax Appeals was born out of frustration, by property owners like you, for you. Every three
years we would look at our tax bills getting higher and higher. The only response was to fight these increases.
To do that required hours of research and lots of guesswork to find the best basis to appeal the ever
increasing property tax bill. We would
manually identify simiar homes in our neighborhoods. Then we would research
these properties and realize we were paying twenty five, fifty and even one hundred percent more per square foot in taxes.
We would file our appeals to reduce these taxes but even if we won our appeal, in three years time our taxes would go up again and again be out of sync with
our neighbors.
So,
we starting creating methods to help sift through the millions of parcels and
enable a smarter appeal! But like most people we don’t fully trust technology alone and certainly not
with our tax appeals. So we use a hybrid human and algorithmic method to appeal our assessments.

Invite only, not spray and pray
Before we even start the appeals process we look through the neighborhoods that are being re-assessed and pro-actively identify those houses and buildings that should be appealed and have a high chance for success.Those parcels receive our invitation to our smart appeal process. If you have a postcard and code from us, you know you have a good chance for success in your appeal if you use us.If you don’t have a code you can still enter your property P.I.N. or address and you will be immediately notified if you were on the list but the original mailing somehow got lost.If not you will be honestly told that you are being taxed fairly relative to you peers and should not waste time on the process.
We help you follow through with the board of appeal and even in the next year as required since we want to save you money on property taxes
We always hope for success in the first step of the appeals process but even with glaring differences in taxes between your property and similar neighbors it is still possible to be denied, so we will help you self-appeal with the Cook county board of review if necessary. If denied again, we will help you appeal again the following year hoping to win a reduction for the remaining two years in the cycle.
